This series offers numerous models capable of honing bore diameters ranging from 2” (152 mm) to 60” (1.2m). Models are available with stroke capacity from 4’ (101 mm) to 80’ (24.4m) with reciprocating speeds from 10” to 80’ per minute (.3m to 27.5m/minute). Spindle horsepower is available up to 75 HP for handling large bore diameters. Ease of operation is enabled by a PLC based control system and operator interface.

The Barnes Bore Finishing Systems MSSP Series single pass machine line is suitable for a variety of single pass honing applications. The flexible machine design can be configured with a single spindle for lower volume production requirements for the smallest of machine shops. It can also be arranged with multiple spindles to satisfy high volume production requirements for the most demanding of companies.

The MSSP Series offers the following features

SSSP-Series Single-Pass Bore Finishing System


The Barnes SSSP Series of Bore Finishing equipment is especially precise and rugged, engineered to process medium and large sized parts. The system is designed to process cavities requiring less than 2 microns geometry in a 24/7 production environment. The single spindle design, in conjunction with the available rotary tool changer, allows Bore Finishing of components with one or more diametric holes, utilizing several processing steps per cavity.
